Faculty Speaker Reception with Professor Richard Polenberg
January 11, 2013
Topic: "The Second Term Jinx: Can President Obama Avoid It?"
Just days before president Obama's
second inauguration Day, Richard Polenberg, one of Cornell's finest and
most beloved history professors, shared his unique historical
perspective on the President's reelection. Professor Polenberg is the Marie Underhill Noll Professor of History Emeritus and is a Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellow. He is also a man, and scholar, of diverse cultural interests. While not a prognosticator, Prof. Polenberg expects that President Obama will have a more successful second term than some of his predecessors, notably Presidents Nixon, Clinton and Reagan. Over 50 Cornellians enjoyed the talk, socializing and a served dinner. |
