CAAAN

The Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN) is a worldwide group of around 6,000 alumni volunteers organized into 300+ committees. It is the most popular Cornell alumni activity.

CAAAN goal: Assist the  Undergraduate Admissions community in identifying and attracting applicants...

  • Whose academic performance and abilities indicate a strong chance for success
  • Whose interests represent the breadth of academic programs at Cornell
  • Whose personal qualities and achievement in non-academic areas could maintain or improve the quality of life at Cornell
  • Who come from a wide spectrum of geographic areas, socioeconomic backgrounds, and racial and ethnic groups

CAAAN volunteers are involved in a variety of activities:

  • Encouraging academically qualified and interesting students to consider Cornell as a place to continue their education.
  • Personalizing the admissions process through contacts with applicants, answering questions, and providing a positive perspective on Cornell.
  • Encouraging accepted students to attend Cornell.

In the CCMO area, dozens of local Cornell alumni serve on two CAAAN committees. Volunteers perform many important public relations functions for late April admissions — including meeting with local undergraduate Cornell applicants one-on-one to discuss the Cornell experience.

In addition, our alumni ambassadors represent Cornell at college fairs, hold special programs for high school juniors, and often host admitted applicants and parents in late April and host sendoff picnics for the freshmen.

About 350 high school students typically apply to Cornell each year from our area. If you would like to volunteer for CAAAN, you can register directly with Cornell. You will receive a welcome message from Cornell Admissions with information on the CAAAN process.
